Laura Ashley A/W 2012 press event

navy, tan, red wine, plum, dusky pink, charcoal grey, and metallics are just a handful of colours that appeared on the rails of the Laura Ashley press event for this autumn/winter. i was lucky to be invited to this lovely event at the factory in soho last week. i was greeted with plenty of warm teas in vintage teacups and saucers, which was perfect what with the extremely autumnal-like weather outside. how fitting.
some of my favourite pieces were the navy cape with tan buckles, the soft chunky knits teamed with soft chiffon maxi skirts, the tanned brogues and loafers with tassels, the little leather satchels, the patterned chiffon shirts- including the dusky pink with tiny black polka dots (which was my ultimate favourite).
the main focus throughout were the simple and stylish shapes which i fell in love with. the simple pieces all had something beyond simple about them. a row of tiny buttons on the cuff, trimmings of lace, a pretty print of greyhounds or feathers or dots or birds, different collar shapes. they were all beautiful. i cannot wait until autumn arrives... though we're still waiting for our summer.
