Pretty picturesque town of Tunbridge Wells

To pull myself out from underneath that grey cloud, I asked Mother if she could take me somewhere pretty where we could have a nice natter and cream tea and go into some pretty shops. So, on Sunday morning she  picked me up and took me here, to beautiful Tunbridge Wells.
We wandered up and down the old Pantilles and browsed through many pretty shops in which I wished to buy beautiful things. Mother bought some kitchen things in a wonderful kitchen shop where the walls were filled with tea plates, beautiful cups, floral napkins, wooden spoons, cupcake cases and everything you could imagine! It was dreamy. We stopped off to have a cream tea in The Cake Shed. Places like these make me wish for my own tea shop with vintage jars filled with various teas and wooden crates for newspapers and a tabletop of wonderful homemade cakes. Sigh.
Once Mother and I had finished off our wonderful huge scones with lashings of clotted cream and jam with a nice pot of tea, we carried on having a little browse around.
We came across a wonderful shop called Pollyfields. It was the most wonderfully scented shop you will ever walk in. Once you open their door a waft of fresh lavender and rosebuds swirl around you. Perfect. We could not come out without purchasing a bunch of lavender and pockets of rosebuds.
After buying herbs and other foods for our dinners that evening, and purchasing Cath Kidston treats for my trips away this year, and a little forcaccia for nibbling from Carluccio's, we headed to another little coffee shop for a cup of tea and a strawberry milkshake before heading home. I love going out shopping with Ma'ma, we always stop off for a Tea to recharge. We saw the cutest little girl sitting with her teddy drinking milk out of an old china cup. She was wearing the largest pink diamond plastic ring. I think her mother worked there.
I imagined how my children would look and act. I'm sure my little girl would be drinking milk or even tea out of a little china cup, whilst I was working in my own little tearoom.

On the journey home, we saw so many little villages with the sweetest tearooms and bakeries and the most wonderful looking houses. We daydreamed and spoke about our dream tearoom/bakery business and wonderful adventures. We spoke about our Scotland holidays and about seeing J.M Barrie's house.
It was the most wonderful day. Even though I see her for lunch nearly everyday at work, I do miss her and miss living with her and miss her delightful cooking. Ma'ma is my most favourite person ever. I hope to be everything she is when I become a mother.

  8. WOW. I grew up near Tunbridge Wells and have visited it plenty of times since, but I've never seen it look so pretty -- and how did you seek out all those glorious little shops and tearooms?! Next time I go there I'm definitely hunting these down!

  9. I went to Tunbridge Wells on a weekend visit when I lived in London! It's such a lovely little town, there's a really fun wooded area not far from the town centre, and the people are so nice and friendly!!
