The Little Things

Lately life has been all sorts of an emotional rollercoaster. Motherhood is hard and easy, it's challenging and rewarding, it's ridiculously amazing and it's lonely, it's wonderful and it's a struggle.
Just like everyone said it would be!
Please don't get me wrong, I am enjoying motherhood alot. Olive is just absolutely precious and I wouldn't want to spend my days with anyone else. It's just... well I miss being Charlotte. I know it'll come in time but some alone time every now and then would be so appreciated.

Anyway, a few things that we have been up to lately...
Surrounded by pretty springtime blooms (gifts from friends), nibbling on Laduree macarons (wonderful gift from Mama), playing with Olive on her play mat and tickling her toes to get smiles and coos, listening to Mary Poppins on the record player.
Watching 90210 on Netflix to keep me going through the night feeds (some lighthearted box-sets is just what I need!), nibbling chocolate coated biscuits and too many custard creams, eating grapes and clementines and sipping all the glasses of water, getting quick showers and carrying out menial tasks whilst Olive snoozes. Having (most) of the NCT mums over with their bebes for catch ups on births, poop and (lack of) sleep accompanied by TOO much cake!
Trips to town for coffee dates with other mama friends, visits from friends and parents for Olive snuggles. No sleep, glasses of milk, chinese takeaways and homemade pizzas. Trip to work too show off Olive and her getting passed around like a parcel at a party- she is SO loved! Buying her lots of pretty clothes from M&S because I no longer care to buy grown up clothes and teeny clothes are cuter!
Receiving lovely letters from faraway friends and tiny packages for Olive from friends and family, a sleepy Olive sleeping in her big girl cot again without swaddling (because she is SUCH a fidget). Little baby smiles and giggles when you play 'This little Piggy' with her toes. Rose & Pistachio mocha's and Turkish Delight feasts. Scheduling blog posts and planning projects. Tired Mama eyebags and the biggest (super overdue) bubble bath. Baby baths and soggy dribble chins.
Late morning snuggles in bed, hot cups of tea and snoozes. Alot of buttery toast meals. Clean bed sheets, mountains of washing and piles of tiny ironing. Best friend catch ups and doodles for future matching tattoos. Llama printed leggings and Merci slogan tees. New nail polishes. Package deliveries of bulk buy nappies & wipes and belated Christmas gifts for Olive of fairy lights and wooden blocks. Plans for making Banana loaf and unicorn shaped biscuits.

What have you been up to lately?

  4. Oh my dear Charlotte:
I remember having my baby are realizing I was jealous - for 9 mos I was the centre of attention. Pregnant - everyone asking me how I was doing. Then it happened - I gave birth and suddenly I was Sarah's mother - I even lost my name. It took me awhile to understand that I would have to reclaim my identity - find things to do that fit with the baby's schedule. So eventually aerobics, and quilting became my passion. You will find your way too. Remember as my father told me - "look after yourself first because without you, she has nothing." He was right.

  5. Oh dear, your baby looks like you. I love your baby now, I wonder how fun and relaxing to play with her.

  6. She's so beautiful like her mother. Hi! there baby.
