The Wedding

This post is so overdue... but you know, life has been a little bit busy of late. I recently spent the Easter weekend celebrating a close friend's wedding so I thought it was about time I share with you a little bit about our special day.

Saturday 11th July 2015 was the most magical day of my life, and the hottest day of Summer so far. The day started with a few 'stressful' moments which ended up with me being a little an hour late but from then on it was just perfect. But for now let's talk about the morning.
After pretty much no sleep due to nerves, excitement and staying up late working on a few last minute touches I was so so tired. My best and maid of honour got up and made us all teas and coffees and heated up the croissants. My mama and my sisters/bridesmaids came over for breakfast of pastries and fresh fruit and we clinked glasses of bucks fizz before getting ready for the big day.
We all spent the morning getting our hair done and nervously (me) nibbling on buttery pastries. There were a few mishaps like my dear friend and make up artist being stranded in London due to cancelled trains which then made me an hour late meeting my groom. Oh and the minibus taking my gorgeous maids to the venue did NOT turn up even though I booked it myself. Good job my lovely friend Lloyd driving my father and I knew the guy. Lloyd saves the day with that one.
These things are hilarious now... and it all turned out in the end. I am just grateful I didn't have to do my make up myself! Now THAT would have been nerve wracking!
We all sat in the living room, windows wide open, cups and glasses everywhere all chatting away and getting ready. The girls had their hair curled, plaited or strands pinned back with their gorgeous floral headcrowns. Whilst mine was loosely (but securely) pinned up with curls & rolls and it was just exactly how I envisioned it looking with my 'wax' flower crown (which was supposed to be pink but unfortunately the florist couldn't get hold of any- still makes me feel a little gutted but the white was still pretty).
I gave my bridesmaid each a rose quartz ring to wear to symbol my love for them and also matching my piece of rose quartz that Alix gave me on the day as my something 'borrowed'. I tied it to my bouquet.
My mother had to leave early to get to the venue which meant she couldn't help me in my dress. My bridesmaids had to go a little while after that too as we were running so late. Luckily my make up lady, Sophy, was a friend and she helped me into my dress.
Then it was time for my Papa to see me in my dress for the first time... there were tears. It was lovely.
After a 30 minute nervous, with more happy tears, and thankfully air-conditioned car ride later we were at the venue. My beautiful bridesmaids waiting, all in a row.
I was nervous. I was so so nervous. I'm not entirely sure why. The anticipation of it all, the thought of finally seeing Sebastian, the fear of tripping in my shoes on the grass, the idea of fudging my words. Perhaps all the above. After a huge gulp of water, re-applying lipstick and talking to the celebrants it was time to see my husband-to-be!
So the morning was filled with bridesmaids and Mama, fresh fruit, croissants, copious amounts of tea sipping, a lot of hair grips, sparkly make up, gorgeous flower deliveries, interesting photographs, girly giggles, hugs, bridesmaid gifts, flower crowns, bucks fizz, father/daughter tears and a nervous air-conditioned car journey.
And the afternoon was even better...
